Ready to go at Photokina

The Kodak booth is pretty much ready for Photokina! I really like the Kodak branding on the escalator handrails and the steps are so cool! (note, it is helpful to read the messaging before you start walking up the steps)

A lot of comments I have been hearing are about how huge the Kodak booth is. I guess that's why they put a map right in front.

The ever helpful staff at the welcome desk can help you find your way too.

Today was a press day so there were lots of video crews and photographers filling the booth. Here the Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera is the star of the show.

Jeff Ince watches as the Kodak ESP 9 All-in-One Printer gets it's close up...

... and Ruben Tellez shows off the Kodak ESP 7 All-in-One Printer.

Mike Telek is being interviewed about the Kodak Theatre HD Player.

Photographers crowd around to get a shot of the Kodak Digital Picture Frames... and the models. I had to take video of that... it was like being at a fashion shoot.

One of my favorite spots is the photo op with the giant butterfly and mushrooms. You can have your picture taken here and then it is moved wirelessly to a collection of Kodak products. I will be testing this out later this week. Gotta get my picture taken with the giant butterfly.

Stay tuned for more on the Kodak booth and all the Kodak products tomorrow! You can also see more pictures on the Kodak Flickr Photostream and video on YouTube.

Being neighborly at Photokina

When I learned that Lomo had a display down the hall from Kodak, I had to walk over and take a look. I've had a Lomo camera from way back. It takes four shots on one frame of film.

Lomo has a giant sheet of pieced together photographs draped down one wall, across the floor and up the other side.

Since those Lomographers obviously burn through film I took them a little neighborly gift of our new Kodak Ektar 100 film.

They have a great display and they sure do love taking pictures. It felt wrong to walk on photographs though!

Kodak at Photokina

This week I will be blogging from Photokina. Photokina is the world's biggest photographic and imaging tradeshow, held in Cologne, Germany every two years.

Of course Kodak is there, with a huge 42,000 square foot booth located in hall 5.2.

I got to Cologne early enough to see the booth being built. There will be lots of cool things going on and I will post photos and video of them here this week. You can also check out photos from the show on the Kodak Flickr photostream.

Here is a video of some of the pre-show activity in the Kodak booth.

In the evening I attended the Photokina kick off of the Visual Gallery. It was put on by BFF (which stands for Bund Freischaffender Foto-Designer, not Best Friends Forever in this case) and Kodak was a sponsor.

I shot a video clip of which I have no idea what is being said.

I do know several talented photographers were recognized including one who took 3D photographs of skateboarders.

3D glasses were available at the door... how cool is that?
