Do you know who is leasing space and using services at Eastman Business Park?

David Beecher
Kodak Rochester Property Manager

The Eastman Business Park (EBP) currently hosts around 25 external businesses at the former Kodak Park site.  One is Transparent Materials, LLC which was founded in November 2008.  Joseph Bringley, Ph.D., started Transparent Materials with a goal of serving the dental and medical markets with technology that  enables bio-medical implants that better integrate into the human body, speeds the healing process, extends implant life and durability, and aids diagnosis, all of which ultimately improve patient outcomes.  His company is developing multifunctional nanoparticles that may be integrated into polymers used for dental and medical purposes.  The nanoparticles make the polymers stronger, more durable, and improve the compatibility of the implant with the patient.   Transparent Materials has received start up assistance from the Small Business Innovation and Research Program and the New York Energy Research and Development Authority.   The company has recently decided to expand at the EBP and will be leasing several more labs and office space in Building 59.

I spoke with Mr. Bringley regarding his decision to locate at the Eastman Business Park and asked why and how it has been going.  He shared a number of positives about being located in Rochester and at the EBP.  This includes the pool of experienced and well educated people, such as former and retired Kodak scientists now employed by Transparent Materials.  In leasing labs at the EBP, Transparent Material scientists have access to Kodak's analytical equipment where they can pay for advanced testing, without having to purchase the expensive laboratory equipment.  Mr. Bringley also appreciated Kodak's flexibility in being able to lease additional space as the company grows, without having to commit to a large block of space.

It's a win-win for the EBP to host an innovative technology company like Transparent Materials, and we hope for their continued growth and success.

Kodak Pulse wins PM Editors Choice Awards at CES

Jennifer Cisney
Chief Blogger

We were very excited to learn that the new Kodak Pulse Digital Frame won a Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award at CES! It was chosen in recognition of outstanding achievement in new product design and innovation.

We love getting a shiny award to show off in our booth. The Wall Street Journal also listed the Kodak Pulse as one of the Ten for 2010: New Gadgets from CES.

There are so many cool features on the Kodak Pulse, it's not hard to believe it's getting a lot of attention. The WiFi enabled Kodak Pulse has it's own dedicated email address that you can send photos to from your email or mobile phone.

The Kodak Pulse also has a full touch screen that makes it so easy to navigate your photos. You can store up to 4000 photos on the frame!

Sharing Images on Your TV

Rob Fassberg
Kodak Gallery Senior Product Manager
Have you ever wanted to share your images with friends and family, but couldn't get everyone in one room to easily see the images on your computer screen?  This was a problem I recently solved with my family that lives 2500 miles away on the "other" coast.  Ever since my wife and I had our second son earlier this year, my parents have been anxious to see new pictures of him as often as possible (as any long distance grandparent would be).  To make their viewing experience even more enjoyable, I introduced them to the new Verizon FiOS TV KODAK Gallery Widget.

Now, any Verizon FiOS TV subscriber can view their Kodak Gallery images, or any images shared to them by another Kodak Gallery member, on their TV from the comfort of their living room.  By simply selecting the dedicated "Widgets" button on their Verizon FiOS TV remote control, they are able to navigate to the Widget Bazaar where they can select from various on-screen applications, such as Facebook, Twitter and now Kodak Gallery.

After initially selecting the new Kodak Gallery Widget, my parents simply entered in their Kodak Gallery username and password, selected "Remember Me" (so that they wouldn't have to enter this in again), and then they were able to view any of their online albums, or friends albums.  Now, every time I share new pictures of the grandchildren with them, my parents can invite friends and family over to  comfortably view them in high resolution on the big screen TV in their living room.
